ARTICLE  I.    NAME.

    This Association shall be known as the American Hovawart Club, hereinafter also referred to as "AHC".


ARTICLE  II.    PURPOSE.

AHC is formed for the following purposes:

   a. Promote the Hovawart, and educate persons interested in the Breed.
   b. Provide assistance to those interested in breeding healthy Hovawart dogs in accordance with the original breed standard and the breeds natural characteristics.
   c. Assist interested persons in importing healthy Hovawarts from other countries.
   d. Hold at least one National Breed Specialty event per year.
   e. Publish a membership newsletter 4 times per year.


ARTICLE III.    AHC PROFITS.

    AHC shall not be conducted or operated for profit and no part of any profits or remainder or residue from dues or donations to AHC shall benefit any member or individual.


ARTICLE  IV.    RULES for EVENTS.

    All National Breed Specialty events will be held in a fair and unbiased manner. Judges for Conformation and Character Testing will be knowledgeable about the breed. Those events sponsored by the AHC and sanctioned by the United Kennel Club (UKC) will be run in accordance with the rules, policies, and procedures of the UKC. ARTICLE  V.    BREEDING.

     The AHC Breeding Council will assist members in breeding dogs who have met the AHC breeding requirements. The Council will research the lineage of the suggested breeding pair and make recommendations to the Breeder as to whether the breeding appears sound. (See Breeding Requirements for more information.)


ARTICLE  VI.    REVISIONS.

     The members of AHC shall adopt and may revise the AHC Constitution and Bylaws as may be required to carry out the Constitutions objectives. (See Bylaws for revisions.)
